House Foods of Japan praises IXON for its tender and juicy products
Scrum Ventures, the San Francisco-based venture capital firm, reported yesterday the progress of its global open innovation program "Food Tech Studio – Bites!", the first global foodtech accelerator program held in Japan. IXON took the spotlight at the event for being coined “the company everybody was talking about” by Scrum Ventures partner Hitoshi Hokamura.
“I was quite surprised when I first heard that IXON could store lightly cooked meat at room temperature for two to three years,” says Hokamura. “I then introduced IXON to our corporate partners, and everyone was like, ‘Really?’ IXON became a story, a story that I like to tell people more than once. I could not stop talking about it.”
Hokamura went on to say that IXON’s technology is revolutionary. He also asked Ms Hiroko Ono, a research associate at House Foods, to give comments on how IXON’s ASAP product tasted.
“I am impressed that IXON’s product was not only tender and juicy, but also could be distributed at room temperature,” says Ono. “I think it is a tremendous technology, and I am paying close attention. It might change the future of food distribution and replace cold chain, allowing meat to be shipped to places previously unreachable. For example, to space, to the top of a mountain, or to the middle of a desert.”
House Foods is the world's largest manufacturer of Japanese Curry, and is best known for its curry brands “Vermont Curry” and “Java Curry”.
