Frequently asked questions on IXON's Kickstarter campaign

Thank you for your continued support! We have received a lot of questions regarding our crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. We will try our best to answer some of these questions (this FAQs page will be continually updated).

What is the difference between “Sear-u-soon” and “Meat-u-later” reward tiers?
First and foremost, price and delivery date. By pledging a higher level of support, backers of “Sear-u-soon” will get their rewards before February 2021 (3 months after campaign closes). In contrast, “Meat-u-later” backers will get their rewards before February 2022 (15 months after campaign closes).

Secondly, manufacturing location and mode of manufacturing. The "Sear-u-soon” rewards are made at IXON’s pilot factory in Fotan, Hong Kong. The process is labor-intensive, costly and inefficient, which is why we have limited quantity. The “Meat-u-later” rewards are to be manufactured at IXON’s pilot center in conjunction with a meat processor using a fully automated production line. The process will be much faster and a lot more cost-efficient, but the downside is we need time to build this line.

Where do you source your meats?
We source our meat from our trusted suppliers in Hong Kong. The two products we offer in our Kickstarter campaign are sirloin steaks and pork chops. In particular, we use US prime beef sirloin and Canadian pork chops because they produce good and consistent results after going through the ASAP process.

Is your meat fake meat or vegan meat?
No, all the meat we use are 100% real meat.

What about your other ingredients?
Our extra virgin olive oil are from either Italy or Spain. Our salt is from Japan. Believe me. We use the best ingredients we can source on Earth so that our products can speak for our technology.

Do you use preservatives in your products? Is that why they are shelf-stable?
No, our products are 100% free from preservatives. In fact, the only three ingredients used are those listed on the packaging: prime sirloin steak or pork chop (depending on the type of product), extra virgin olive oil, and salt. Our products are shelf-stable because they have been sterilized using our proprietary ASAP technology at 60 degrees Celsius.

How does the ASAP process work? How can you sterilize the meat at such low temperature?
We recommend that you watch our animated explanation video here.

How can you be sure that your products are safe to consume?
We have many layers of protective mechanisms. Firstly, we use the finest ingredients that we can source in Hong Kong. To ensure freshness, we process our meat within 72 hours of receiving them. Secondly, we maintain the highest level of hygiene at our pilot factory by using state-of-the-art equipment like clean rooms, clean air filters and clean work benches, as well as conducting cleaning and sanitation on a regular basis. Thirdly, we asked third party accredited laboratories to conduct accelerated shelf-life tests on our food products to ensure their safety. Fourthly, we incubate our products at 35 degrees Celsius for 3-7 days so that contaminated products, if any, will be detected and removed. Lastly, we have been working on this technology over the past six years, so you can be sure that we have the experience to ensure our products’ safety.

Our pilot factory in Fotan, Hong Kong. Sorry we can’t show more of our factory as much of our setup is top secrets.
